Our #BORNATDAWNMUSE this week is Danish stylist, fashion consultant and co-founder and creative director of Social Zoo, Pernille Teisbaek.

Born in 1984 in Copenhagen, Denmark she began modelling at 16 when her mother sent her to Paris. On her return to the Danish capital she intended to be a dentist, but with an interest in fashion from an early age, life took a more stylish direction.

Pernille became fashion director of magazine ‘ALT for Damerne’ aged just 21 before moving to ‘Eurowoman’. After establishing a strong fashion profile she started a blog, ’Look de Pernille’, in 2012 as well as being the fashion stylist and expert on morning TV in Denmark. Her blog exploded and became a full-time occupation, turning a profit within four months of its launch.

She closed Look de Pernille in 2016 to pursue other ventures but remains a leading social media influencer. In the same year, she set up successful talent agency Social Zoo and works as an editorial stylist and highly respected fashion consultant with brands including The Row and Net-A-Porter.

Pernille is internationally recognised for laid-back elegance and her own personal take on Scandi-chic. Mastering an effortless, minimalist aesthetic she focuses on trans-seasonal and long lasting pieces. Favouring a palette of black, navy and grey with the occasional pop of colour, key elements include oversized mannish tailoring with camisoles, crisp white shirts and polo-necks layered under dresses or tops.  She cleverly adds subtle but playful twists to her outfits, such as toning down a miniskirt with a man’s T-shirt or pairing a chunky knit with a light silk slip dress. The result is polished but cool.

In 2017 she wrote the style handbook ‘Dress Scandinavian: Style Your Life and Wardrobe the Danish Way’. In January 2018 she collaborated with Copenhagen-based fashion house ‘By Malene Birger’ to create a stunning 10-piece capsule collection for Pre-Spring 2018, exclusive to Net-a-Porter. As well as styling the four key campaign images Pernille is also the face of the collection.

She married Philip Lotko, co-founder of clothing company ‘Rains’, in 2017 on the Danish island of Bornholm. They live in the Frederiksberg district of Copenhagen with their son Billy.

Pernille’s focused and effortless style may be highly covetable, but with beautiful, easy to wear clothes that can be styled a multitude of ways, she provides great inspiration on how to create a timeless look. With brains, beauty and as one of Denmark’s most influential exports, she continues to fuel our obsession for Scandi style.
