BORN AT DAWN LIFE: WHY WOMEN NEED MORE SLEEP THAN MEN

I’ve always suspected it and now it’s official- Research from Loughborough University has revealed that women really do need more sleep than men and here’s the reason why…

Most women are multitaskers and we utilise and require a higher amount of brain activity using more regions of the brain than men do. One of the main functions of sleep is to allow the brain to recover and repair itself and as we use more brain, we need more sleep to repair it.

According to the study, men tend to focus deeply on one task at a time almost like a “tunnel vision” whereas women’s brains were better at performing multiple functions simultaneously.

The study claims that the average adult needs 6-8 hours a night, with women needing an additional 20 minutes for the additional brain repairs and to wake up feeling renewed. The study noted that when this limited amount of rest in women is deprived, it can have worse effects on the health of women such as cardiovascular problems and diabetes, depression, stress, or anxiety. I’m endeavouring to get to bed that little bit earlier from now on when I can

How much sleep do you think you get on average each night and do you agree you seem to need more than the men in your life?
